Fort Calhoun, Nebraska contracts its sanitary sewer collection and wastewater treatment to the City of Blair, and uses private local providers for trash collection.

Wastewater and Sewage

Treatment Partner: Fort Calhoun contracts its wastewater treatment and sanitary collection system directly to the neighboring City of Blair. 
Facility Location: Wastewater is transported to Blair's activated sludge mechanical treatment facility located at 850 Fairview Drive in Blair, NE. 

Trash and Solid Waste

Private Haulers: The city does not run a municipal garbage fleet; instead, residents and businesses contract independently for trash removal. 
Approved Local Providers: Permitted local waste management services include Abe's Trash Service (which provides 95-gallon bins and curbside recycling), Papillion Sanitation, Buddies Rentals, and S & S Pumping. See Contacts below for phone and addresses information. 

The City of Fort Calhoun contracts with the Washington County Recycling Center for recycling.

Recycling

The Washington County Recycling Association (WCRA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the environment. Its primary objective is to reduce the amount of solid waste being sent to area landfills. It is staffed solely by community volunteers and is open to the public every Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and noon. The center is also open to area business on Tuesday afternoons in the winter and Tuesday mornings in the summer.

Open to the public:
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to Noon

Open to businesses:
Tuesdays, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (April through October)
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (November through March)
