SCAM!
Scammer is calling residents and impersonating a Sarpy County sheriff’s office lieutenant.
Be aware as this can happen anywhere.
The scammer claiming to be an officer and telling the resident that they have a warrant for their arrest and they need to pay a fine over the phone.
The victims are then instructed to purchase prepaid visa cards and read the numbers off from it. The scammer then empties the card and pockets the cash.
BE AWARE! OPPD Collections Department Scam…
Businesses have been receiving phone calls stating that they are “OPPD Collections department.” They say they have a shut off notice and that you need to call a certain number. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION! The local OPPD customer service office said this is NOT how they handle payments.
